Prior to retiring from Kaiser Northern California in 2018, Dr Sam Young was one of the pioneers in the treatment of urgency incontinence using PTNS pretibial nerve electrical stimulation. Addition of auricular acupuncture enhances the success in treating fecal and urinary incontinence.

In 2018, he was recruited by NEMS North East Medical Services and currently treating patients with urge incontinence condition, utilizing modalities including PTNS, meridian energetic and auricle acupuncture.

Multiple causes of urgency/incontinence including bladder infection, pelvic pain, postmenopausal atrophy of the urethra, STD sexually transmitted diseases, low lying uterine fibroids, vaginal atrophy, Qi deficiency, hyper sexual activity, food exacerbated symptoms, exercise induced(ie cycling, excessive pelvic floor exercises).

Depending on the medical conditions, treatment may require allopathic gynecological medical care, pelvic physical therapy or alternative modalities as mentioned above.
